Baseball Week 4 Results

The baseball season rolls on with a full slate of games for Digit, Bronco and Pony teams. Let’s start with the Digit teams.

Digit Gold hosted Tekamah-Herman Purple on Monday, June 2, and came away with a 14-8 win. Lots of good hitting in this game with Huston Meyer, Cael McDuffee, Boyd Clausen and Raymond Beckstrom all getting two hits. Other players getting hits were Bryce Fitzke, Tristan Baltzer, Logan Rynes, Theo Worth and Samuel Kriekemeier. Clausen, Baltzer and B. Fitzke shared the pitching duties. Outfielders in the game were Worth, Rynes, twins Cael and Cyler McDuffee and Kriekemeier. On Wednesday night, the Gold team continued their strong play with an 6-2 win over Howells-Dodge White. Fitzke and Clausen shut down the Howells-Dodge offense, allowing 2 unearned runs in the 4th inning. Levi Fitzke was the ideal leadoff man, with three hits and scoring two runs. Other players scoring runs were B. Fitzke, Clausen, Cael McDuffee and Kriekemeier.

LV Digit Blue split their games on the week. On Monday, they traveled to Homer and suffered a 11-3 loss. They bounced back on Wednesday with a 4-3 win over West Point Dodgers. The Digits jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the 1st inning, only to see West Point tie it up in the 4th. The boys came back with two runs in the 5th inning, the winning run scored by Luke Munderloh off a hit by Weston Rasmussen. They then held West Point to a single run in the bottom of the 5th to secure the win. Sully Stanton and Munderloh scored all the runs for the Digits. Stanton and Rasmussen were the pitchers. Outfielders for the team are Elliot Vollmer, Weston Weitzenkamp, Axxel Priessler, Kordell Hilbers and Grayson Bowman. Liam Vacha does the catching for the Digits.

LV Broncos Blue played the West Point Dodgers on Wednesday night and came out on top with a 16-10 win. The Broncos scored seven runs in the 2nd inning and never looked back. Cooper Taylor had a good night at the plate, with three hits and three RBI’s. Ryker King contributed a double and triple, with Henry Camenzind, Everett Petersen, Shane Dowty and Vinny Cunningham hitting singles. All the LV players in the game reached base and had at least one stolen base. Taylor, Camenzind and Petersen did a good job on the mound, giving up six hits and striking out four.

The Broncos Blue team came up short in their game with Homer on Thursday night, losing 5-4. Hits were recorded by Camenzind, Petersen, Taylor, Easton Hilbers and Ryker Stanton. Petersen and Taylor combined to strikeout four Homer batters and allowing six hits.

The Ponies continued their strong season with an 11-3 trouncing of Oakland-Craig on Thursday night. LV led 5-2 after four innings, before putting the game away with six runs in the final two innings. Reece Pekarek had three singles to lead the offense, with Will Foust, Cooper Camenzind, Cooper Ruwe, Jacob Peters and Oliver Stanton getting hits. The Ponies ran wild on the base paths, with 23 stolen bases in the game. The pitching was a group effort, with Foust, Colton Stockamp, Brock Shole and Ruwe sharing the mound. They combined to allow three runs on three hits and striking out twelve.
