Boys Baseball back in Action

After a holiday weekend and a rain out on Tuesday, the Logan View baseball teams were ready to hit the diamond. On Wednesday, Digit Gold took on Lyons and came away with a 7-0 victory. The Digits jumped on top with single runs in the 1st and 2nd innings before breaking the game open with four runs in the 3rd inning. Raymond Beckstrom scored three runs with one hit to power the offense. Other players scoring runs were Levi Fitzke, Ashton Hoff, Tristan Baltzer, Bryce Fitzke and Logan Rynes. B. Fitzke and Boyd Clausen did a good job on the mound, pitching three innings apiece and allowing zero runs.

LV Digit Blue faced a tough Wisner team in a Thursday make-up game and came out on the short end of a 2-0 score. Hits and base runners were hard to come by in the game. The Digits had their best scoring chance in the 2nd inning, when Tyce Homan and Henry Petersen reached base, but neither could score. Grayson Bowman was the only other base runner for the evening. Sully Stanton and Weston Rasmussen kept the game close with good pitching.

The LV Pony team was certainly glad to be back on the diamond as they defeated North Bend on Thursday night 19-13. The Ponies trailed 5-0 before they erupted for 7 runs in the 2nd inning. They briefly fell behind 10-9 before they came back with 10 runs in the last three innings for the win. Cooper Ruwe was the offensive leader with a single, double and triple with 4 RBIs. Jacob Peters also had three hits, with Colton Stockamp, Reece Pekarek, Cooper Camenzind and Cohen Osborn getting two hits apiece. Peters, Brock Schole and Stockamp were the pitchers, with Stockamp shutting down the North Bend team, allowing one run over the final 2.1 innings he pitched. a

The Ponies suffered their first loss in league play on Sunday night, as they traveled to Pender and lost 12-4. Stockamp and Pekarek had two hits apiece, with Peters and Ruwe notching singles. Oliver Stanton scored a run and reached base three times via walks from the leadoff spot. Stockamp. Schole and Ruwe handled the pitching.

The boys have a busy week of games ahead. The Digits and Broncos play on Monday and Wednesday night, Ponies play on Thursday and Sunday evenings. The Digits and Broncos will be in West Point this upcoming weekend for a tournament with the Ponies traveling to Fort Calhoun.
