Bronco Teams Play in League Tourney
Both Logan View Bronco teams participated in the Tri-Co League Blue Division tourney last week. LV Bronco Gold entered the tourney as the #1 seed, with the Gold team getting the #2 seed. In the first round, Bronco Blue came away with a big win over Winnebago Blue 22-1. The Broncos jumped out to a 9-0 lead after one inning and finished it off with nine more runs in the 3rd inning to end the game early by the run rule. LV pounded out 13 hits in the game, with Vinny Cunningham getting three singles, Henry Camenzind-two singles, Everett Petersen-triple and single, Ramsey Stanton-two singles, Cooper Taylor-double, and Waylon Reynolds, Shane Dowty and Breccon Bowman all with singles. Taylor and Petersen each took a turn on the rubber, limiting Winnebago to one run on one hit. On Wednesday, July 2, Wakefield came to town to take on the Broncos and left with a 13-0 win. The Bronco Blue bats were quiet in the semi-final game, getting only two hits in the contest by Camenzind and Stanton.
LV Bronco Gold also won their first tourney game, notching a 12-1 win over Battle Creek. Will Baltzer, Corbin Wagner, Brantley Oberg and George Tonjes all pitched an inning in the game. On Wednesday night, the Gold team punched their ticket into the tourney finals with a 16-5 win over Stanton Orange. In the finals, Bronco Gold won a thrilling game over Wakefield by a final score of 5-4. Buzz Callum opened the scoring in the 2nd inning, drawing a walk and coming around to score. Baltzer hit a home run in the 3rd inning to put another run on the board. The Broncos scored the winning runs in the 5th inning when consecutive hits by Wagner, Oberg and Tonjes produced three runs. Oberg, Tonjes and Baltzer were stellar on the mound, keeping Wakefield in check and allowing Bronco Gold to claim the tourney championship.
