Ponies Start League Tourney
The Logan View Ponies began the Tri-County League tourney as the #5 seed with a dominant 12-1 win over Wisner on Friday. LV jumped out to a quick lead with five runs in the 1st inning and finished the contest with five more runs in the 3rd. Three players had two hits in the game, with Graidon Drey getting two singles, Brock Schole had a double and single and Jacob Peters with a triple and single. Colton Stockamp, Kohen Osborn and Coooper Camenzind also had singles. Cooper Ruwe, Oliver Stanton and Reece Pekarek chipped in with RBI’s. Drey, Stockamp and Schole all took turns on the mound, combining to allow three hits and striking out five batters.
On Sunday night, the Ponies traveled to West Point to take on the WP Bombers. LV had no trouble and recorded an 11-3 victory. The Ponies continue their hot hitting, pounding out eleven hits in the win. Leading the way was Stanton, with three hits and three RBI’s. Peters was right behind, with a double and home run. Schole also had two hits, with Ruwe (double), Drey, Stockamp and Camenzind getting hits. Drey, Schole and Stockamp again rotated on the mound, keeping the Bombers in check all night.
In the semi-finals on Tuesday, July 1, the Ponies faced #1 seed Tekamah-Herman and came out on the short end of a 9-1 loss in a game played at Emerson. LV managed only four hits, a double by Schole and singles by Drey, Peters and Stanton. Stockamp and Schole combined to strike out nine batters, but gave up 11 hits to the potent TH team.
The loss put the Ponies into the consolation game on Wednesday night against Pender. LV jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning, but couldn’t hold on and suffered a 12-7 loss. Drey had a big night at the plate with four hits, including two doubles. Stanton and Schole had two hits, with Ruwe, Peters and Brig Giesselman getting one hit apiece. Drey, Stanton and Ruwe handled the pitching.
This concluded a fine season for the Ponies as they finished with an 8-3 league record and fourth place finish in the league tourney. Colton Stockamp and Oliver Stanton were named to the Pony All Star game which will be played on Wednesday,
July 9, at 7:00 pm at Timmerman Field in West Point. Congratulations to the entire team on a exciting season.
